Al-Uyoon Hackathon: "The Eye is the Window to the Body"
The Eye Hackathon is an innovation-driven event organized by King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital and Research Center, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), Lean Business Services, and King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals.
The hackathon aims to harness artificial intelligence (AI) and digital innovation to explore the eye as a non-invasive gateway for early detection of systemic diseases and to enhance the quality of healthcare.
Objectives:
• Enhance early diagnosis: Utilize retinal images and OCT test results to develop smart solutions that help detect chronic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes.
• Improve medical workflow efficiency: Innovate tools that reduce physicians’ time and effort while accelerating clinical decision-making.
• Enable multidisciplinary collaboration: Bring together doctors, researchers, software developers, and AI engineers in a shared creative environment.
• Foster sustainable innovation: Support the development of executable business models that go beyond prototype creation.
